I'm Crazy

I am 32 year old single mom of 4 kids, I work full time and go to school full time at Kaplan working towards my Family Nurse Practitioner.  I am Crazy!  I love being a nurse and taking care of patients, and I mean truly taking care of them.  I want to be finished with my Master's by the time I'm 35 so I got 2 1/2 years!!!!  My kids are wonderful and I wish I could spend more time with them but they understand I am doing this for them.  I have to stay positive and not think about my lack of sleep and free time and tell myself it will be worth it when I am through!
Reflective statement: I CAN do this, I AM doing this!!!!

  1. Hello Danielle,

Well I personally would not call you crazy, but one very strong woman who's beating the odds! At the end the rewards will be that much more gratifying knowing that you came up on some bumps in the road but you pressed on through them. Keep up the good work!

  2. Dani,

I wouldn't say crazy (even though it feels like it some days), I would call you motivated! I am 35, almost 36 years old and even though I am married about 90% of the household duties fall on my shoulders. I work full time on third shift, have a 3 & 5 year old that I take care of all day (except when my son is in school), go to school full time, and work two part-time jobs. I am currently studying for a health and wellness degree because I can't do a nursing degree through Kaplan in Georgia. Once I finish this degree I plan to go into the local holistic nursing program and then into nursing. Like you I really want to be able to take care of people and hope to be able to get into nursing to do that. I feel you on the lack of free time and the lack of sleep. Like you I just keep reminding myself that everything I do right now will pay off for my kids in the end. Best of luck, you obviously have the drive and motivation to get where you want to be in life!
